A railway themed Christmas tree featured in the annual Christmas Tree Festival at St Andrew's Church in Corbridge.  Station adopters, the Friends of Corbridge Station, used their creative skills to build an unusual tree including tickets, Northern and Railway 200 bunting, Tyne Valley Railway facemasks, Arlo’s Adventures rail safety book and a train set.

Corbridge christmas tree

125 businesses and organisations from the village decorated their Christmas trees, some traditional and others modern, with the church providing a very atmospheric backdrop.  Christmas music and community singing was enjoyed by visitors to this very popular five-day festival.

The Friends’ tree was in a prominent position near the door.  However, there was some concern when a gust of wind through the door nearly derailed the tree!

Fiona Forsythe, Tyne Valley CRP Officer said, “Well done to the Friends of Corbridge Station; the tree was fantastic and I love the semaphore signal at the top.  This is a great way to promote the railway in the heart of the village”.
